Whitework?

This is my version of Theresa Wentzler's freebie "Beginner Whitework Ornament".  I started it for the crazy January challenge, barely getting the center done.  I've been working on it otherwise for my three ornament challenge for Friendly Stitchers.  My question is ... is it still whitework if it's not white?

I've done that ornament, it's a fun stitch! And yes, I think it is still whitework :)

If Blackwork can be done in different colours, and still be called 'blackwork', then why not the same for Whitework? I guess that strictly speaking neither should be so called, but who wants to be strict when it comes to stitching? :)

Thank you both. And as for strict and stitching - only the fiddly bits! I've yet to do whitework in white. That'd be different for me.
